"The Revolution Will Not Be Polite" is an article that
was influenced by a post that has been posted by a tumblr user, which contains
a list of non-oppressive insults. The article mainly initiated as a reaction to
the re-blogs that the post received rather than on the post itself. The writer,
Rachael, simply tries to describe the difference between social justice (being
good) and politeness (being nice). The writer also highlights the cultural and
social rights of individuals and their importance in society, which, if
achieved, will lead to opportunities and law, as those aspects will determine
one’s goodness and will eventually lead to further understanding the meaning of
this article. Through the emphasis on oppression, Rachael was able to define oppression
as lack of rights and opportunities. The topic of this argument is significant
because it allows the readers to acknowledge the difference between niceness
and goodness; because lack of knowledge about such an issue will eventually
lead to misinterpreting oppression with meanness, which will lead to social
chaos. Social justice is simply for the GOOD of people and not to make the
world –as Rachael wrote- a nicer place.
Check moodle for your grade. You do not have a main idea. And the tumblr reference is too specific. The last sentence is right. But I can't see clearly how you followed the ideas of the text and at points it almost seems like you are steering away from the text. Though its not that evident.
