summary of Rachael's article

Is this word “niceness” too ambiguous to understand it clearly? In the article of “The Revolution Will Not Be Polite”, Rachael refused the meaning of “niceness” as usually people think. She discussed the problem of considering “niceness” as a “social justice”, or as “goodness”. Though, this is not true. Unfortunately, this confusion between “nice” and “good” is too frequent in our world. Rachael defined theses two terms in order to show the huge difference between them. Actually, social justice is being equal, being fair among people, accepting others, and cooperating. However, niceness is a manner towards others; it could be used either for bad or good purposes. Therefore, Rachael told how cruel people are doing bad things, and nothing happened. That is because they are hiding under the name of “niceness”, certainly those who don’t have the full awareness. Also, she talked about men who are using their kindness towards women at the beginning in order to mistreat them at the end. The fusion of nice and good, as she said, creates a “fundamentally misunderstand privilege p.586”. It means the concept of “privilege” will be recognized as a place where others are nice and not as a place where you have the rights. In fact, it is the opposite. Furthermore, niceness is considered by the “oppressor” or “bigots”, as she described, a “derailing tactics p.587”.  It is about treating “nicely” by the “oppressors” to diminish their angers, and to reach their goals. People have different faces; badly most people show others their nice face in order to make them be under their control. On the other hand, “niceness” has also good aspects. Being nice can help many people get rid out of their problems. Many people that are being abused, they need someone’s niceness to feel that he or she are capable of being a well known organ in the society. In conclusion, the goals of social movement can be achieved by niceness revolution.

  1. Check moodle for your grade. The question at the beginning is not a main idea. Plus don't quote in summary, You have a lot of grammatical weaknesses in this summary, mostly fragments. Don't quote. She doesn't just emphasize on gender, this is too specific a point. You repeat. I don't think anywhere in the text does she indicate niceness as a possible good thing for social justice.
