Summary: The Revolution Will Not Be Polite
-Rachael
In her post, Rachael, was trying to bring to light the fact that we have been tricked into believing that being nice and being good are one in the same, also informing us that equality is not the same as nice, and that power has been given to tyrants.
This whole post seemed to be an awakening. A scream to tell the people reading this 'wake up you've been tricked' and she does it using everyday examples of instances where niceness is used to take control of others, where the beleaguered, feel obligated, to speak to their dictators in a certain way. We are at a time where a white man thinks being called a racist sack of shits falls into par with him calling a POC a nigger. Where your next door neighbor could be a part of the KKK and you wouldn't even think of a thing like that because they greet you every morning with a smile. She explains that in order for equality to be a thing in the real world we need to break down those barriers separating the privileged from the underprivileged, the 'marginalized' and to fight to get their basic rights back. But that can not be achieved if the only way to get it back is to 'politely' ask the person, that took it from you in the first place. She also brings up privilege and that being privileged means you get access to things in life other people (women, POC, queer...) do not, and how it shouldn't be mistaken for anything else.
As a whole, this post is a building block to help guide you on your way to better understanding certain topics you might have misunderstood or falsely defined, and use this newly appointed knowledge to fight back and eventually take back what is truly yours.
Check moodle for grade. Don't get carried away in the main idea. "Power has been given to tyrants" is not an idea she expresses in the text. Don't analyze either, she doesn't talk about awakening neither should you. You are giving examples from your head..KKK? Just write the ideas of the text. This is not a summary.
