The revolution will not be polite: The issue of nice versus good  - Rachael

Rachel, the 'young feminist' emphasizes the importance of becoming aware of the difference between being "good" and being "nice" in her blog post by using examples that occur in our everyday lives before our eyes, yet we always overlook them. There are generalizations about people that we have now accepted into our societies that are simply wrong, for example, we know that terrorists are not good people, yet a terrorist on his day off could bake you some cookies which is a nice gesture, doesn't make him a good terrorist though, what I mean is that being nice doesn't mean that you are a good person which is what Rachel tries to show in her blog.
Most of us have grown up in open societies where people use racial slurs or sexist comments loosely against each other as a joke, I could tell my friend that he is a "faggot" but it wouldn't cross my mind that it is offending homosexual people and in a way i'm indirectly taking away their dignity by using that term to place them in a social class lower than mine. Our socio-cultural norms have blinded us from the fact that some of the things we say are misused and are highly offensive.

Overall Rachel uses the blog to reveal a common mistake that society makes on a daily basis and she wants her audience to become aware of the fact that, "the conflation of ethical or just conduct (goodness), and polite conduct (niceness) is a big problem."

  1. Check moodle for your grade. Your main idea is too broad even though you write a lot. Also, does she say she is a feminist? No, you shouldn't add your opinion. Why are you talking about terrorists? Again not in text. Don't quote. Unfortunately, this is not a summary.
