Homosexual Marriage Is Like Abortion

Nowadays, homosexual marriage is a controversial issue, in which people are either with or against. Tim Holbrook, who is the dean of faculty and professor of law at Emory University, defends homosexual marriage in his article “marriage equality is not like abortion”. However, I disagree with him. In fact, marriage is not just any relationship between human beings. It is a relationship rooted in the human nature and thus governed by the law of natural. Marriage is not the creation of any state, rather than it is blessed by God. Therefore marriage is sacred in human life. Thus we cannot change this sacred law in order to make it suitable to ones desires and preferences. Everyone is free in his decision making, to lead a normal or a homosexual life, to have children or not. Homosexual people can live their needs and desires and no one has the right to question them, but there are always limits that humans should abide by. Actually, homosexual marriage is complicated as abortion. It denies a child his right for a father and a mother, because it is for the child’s best interest to be raised under the guidance of his natural parents. If homosexual marriage is acceptable then incest, pedophilia, bestiality, and other forms of unnatural relations should be also acceptable in marriage. That is offensive and unpleasant. Thus, same-sex marriage is not acceptable as well as abortion.

However, Tim Holbrook in his article supported homosexual marriage by giving some arguments. In his text, he highlighted the idea that most of the states in America as well as other countries, support homosexual marriage in order to ban discrimination and to improve the standard of living among people. Homosexuals are discriminated because they are denied and rejected from most levels of society, either religious or ethnic. In the states, a homosexual individual would be struggling to join an institution or get acceptance and acquire his rights as a human being. In addition, Tim pointed out in his article that homosexual marriage doesn’t reflect badly on people same as abortion. In fact, abortion is the act of killing a human being, a victim. Homosexual marriage reduced the social battles. Furthermore, he said that heterosexuals get married and acquire “unwanted” children for one reason or another, they over go abortion, yet on the other hand, homosexual individuals can’t deliver children. Instead, others go for adoption. As a conclusion, from my point of view, I am against the concept of homosexual marriage and regard it as an abnormal relation among humans.
